Parents visa allows parents to migrate to Australia permanently to join their children who are living in Australia. This visa requires that you be sponsored by your child, or another eligible sponsor, in Australia.
This visa is designed for people who are a parent of a child or stepchild who, at the time the visa application is lodged, is 'settled' and either an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen. This means your child must have been lawfully resident in Australia for a reasonable period, normally 2 years, although a shorter period can be considered for Australian citizen children if there are compelling and compassionate circumstances.

Visa Fees

The 1st installment of the Visa Application Charge must accompany your application and is generally not refunded if the application is unsuccessful. Only one 1st installment of the Visa Application Charge is payable for the entire family unit included in your application. If a separate application is made by them at a later date, a separate 1st instalment of the Visa Application Charge is payable.

Before your visa is granted, you must pay the 2nd instalment of the Visa Application Charge for each person included on the application.
