Frequently asked questions
What relationship evidence should we prepare?+
Partner applications commonly need evidence of your shared finances, household, social recognition and commitment to each other. The documents should reflect your actual relationship. We can help you organise the evidence and explain periods apart or unusual circumstances.
Home Affairs: Partner visa ↗What are the temporary and permanent parent visa options?+
Parent visas include temporary stays and permanent migration options. The Sponsored Parent visa (870) is temporary and does not lead to permanent residence. Permanent Parent and Contributory Parent visas have different requirements and charges; contributory pathways cost more, and both permanent streams can involve substantial queues. We can compare the options, current costs and waiting times for your family.
Home Affairs: parent visa options and queues ↗Which partner visa should we consider?+
The appropriate partner pathway depends on your location, relationship and visa history, as well as your sponsor’s eligibility. Onshore 820/801, offshore 309/100 and Prospective Marriage 300 visas have different requirements. We can compare the options with you.
Home Affairs: Partner visa ↗Does marriage automatically qualify us?+
No. Marriage alone does not establish eligibility. You must also meet the relationship, sponsorship and other requirements of the relevant visa. We can assess your circumstances and help you prepare supporting evidence.
Home Affairs: Partner visa ↗Can dependent children be included?+
Dependent children may be included where the relevant visa requirements are met. We can review age, dependency, custody and consent considerations with you and guide you through the supporting documents.
